Hey Cindy, How come this new palm pilot still gives me a runtime of  80mins!!
Yet again I drove up to Pompano Beach to inspect the wrecks up there.. I met up with Z, Cindy and Al for the dive with Captain Conrad. We were diving the SUCRE a German freighter, 237 ft long and about 220ft deep (to the sand). After hearing all the stories of excellent Visibility we were keen to see the real truth.. Anxiously peering over the side of the boat as we motored out to the wreck. In fact the day was glorious, and the vis was EXCELLENT... must have been about 100ft.. We split into two buddy pairs, and for once I was in the first team to get into the water. Beaten by a split second only by my buddy.   We flew down to the wreck it was a great feeling, the water was clear and warm. I peered all around to see the wreck and sure enough it soon came into view. We "landed" slightly forward of the middle of the ship.. Z instantly deploying his camera, I suppose to get as many pictures as possible.  I still haven't figured out how he gets great pictures, and manages to laugh all time, when I laugh underwater my mask fills up!! We crossed over to the other side of the wreck and hung out off the wreck by 20ft or so.. It was then that I saw the huge anchor chain running down from the bow until it is laying in the sand and then trailing off into the distance.
It almost looks as if the ship is moored there. Pretty soon I spotted Al and Cindy way down in the hold, apparently it must have been very interesting down there since they were there for ages. We made a complete circuit of the wreck, then hung around close to the stern superstructure accompanied by the silent sentinels (barracuda). As usual I was trying to conserve gas because I had smaller tanks than the others, so I pretty much stayed above deck and in the superstructure. The vis made this a very cool dive, so easy to see everything and get some spectacular views of the wreck. After 25mins it was time to leave.. deco seemed very long today with an 80min runtime, but was still alot of fun whiling away the time by playing with different ways to keep trim and watching Cindy play with her lift bag. There were not too many funny little plankton creatures today and I missed that part of my amusement. Yet again I got another super dive, great fun, great company... Yes it's a weenie dive for some, no current, clear warm water, but for me it still feels like going to the moon and back (that sort of ground control to Major Tom feeling).. moored.gif (159583 bytes)
