April 13th 2002

I couldn't believe it... after 3 whole weekends of windy days, I popped my head out of the window and I could STILL see the trees blowing around outside my house.   Well I hadn't got the dreaded phone call so I continued on with my plans.  I was so happy to get out and I even had a fill all ready from a previous dive that got blown out.

I arrived at the boat in good time and although the wind was high in Miami it seemed to tail off the further North I went.   The sea conditions were just fine, not too rough and nice and sunny with blue water :-).

Capt Rob, didn't manage to wet my dry suit this time... well you know a lesson learned ;-)... actually I spent alot of the time fighting with the crew to carry my own gear :-)... certainly I should take advantage next time eh!  (this will be when I eventually buy a really big scooter as well hehe).

There was a little current but in general not too bad.   I arrived at the wreck to find about 50-60ft vis.. and a bunch of divers already there.   The deck was at around  140fsw and I dropped to about 150 inside the wreck, I never made the 165 which was down at the sand.    I  swam around the perimeter of the wreck, pretty much just in the bow section.    Then inspected the area down into the hold.     There didn't seem to be too many fish around but lots of superstructure to enjoy.   I stopped and poked my head into the windows to see if anyone was home but nope, nobody was in today..

After about 20 minutes we began to gather around the ascent line, and I used up my last 5 minutes checking the area around there.    The line was tied off at the top of the mast so as I was ascending and I could see the deck getting smaller as if I was climbing up the ladder that was there.   Initially deco was not fun because of the current and having to use the line, but as the last group left the wreck they unhooked and, then things were much more comfortable, as we were just able to drift along in a group.   I have to say I have fun on deco just hanging out and watching everyone else.     Eventually I arrived at the surface.. and was retrieved by the boat..

I enjoyed my first time on the Miller Lite,  a nice cute wreck with lots of growth and some cool places to poke around inside.    It was also a good work up dive for me, it felt good to get back on a wreck after all of these long blown out weekends and cave diving weekends! (even though I love the caves too :-).....).
